body.. having long hair, brown skin, thick thighs, a big butt, big brown eyes, and a large smile were what ONCE opened DOORS and kept me IN SPACES BEFORE I REALLY KNEW MYSELF ENOUGH TO REALLY LOVE MYSELF.
mind.. NOW DEFINING MYSELF AS A YOUNG BLACK WOMAN OF VARIOUS STOPS OF THE DIASPORA WITH HEALING ABILITIES, SERVICE STRENGTHS, ARTISTIC TALENTS, AND OLDEN WISDOM, I THINK OF THE WORLD AS A SPACE FOR ME TO BETTER MYSELF IN, AND TO SHARE MY BETTER SELF WITH.
soul.. MY INTEGRITY, OUTSPOKENNESS, WORK ETHIC, HONESTY, PASSION, PURPOSE, POSITIVITY, AND MOST OF ALL FAITH ENCOMPASS MY PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SELVES IN FOREVER VARYING WAYS.
ancestry& spirituality.. AS A FIRST GENERATION HAITIAN AMERICAN, AND SECOND GENERATION JAMAICAN AMERICAN, BOTH ISLANDS OF THE CARIBBEAN PROUD TO IDENTIFY WITH ONCE HAVING BEEN OF AFRICAN DESCENT, I EXIST AND SURVIVE AS EVERY BIT OF EVERY POINT OF THE DIASPORA THAT CREATES AND SUSTAINS ME.
final reflections.. As a self identifying Womanist on her way to becoming an overall healer of women as a clinician, non profit founder, author, and professor, so that women of color, particularly black women, may learn to believe that their lives and liberation matter, I am overjoyed to know that the choice and commitment to agency and self-love is spreading with movements like Selfology!
